The Chancellor of the Exchequer in the UK has warned that the country faces a gruelling haul out of the Covid 19 crisis with a backdrop of soaring borrowing, rising unemployment and uncertainty over Brexit.
“ Our economic emergency has only just begun,” he said. You could nearly sing that line.
With the Bank of England Governor saying that Bexit fall-out could dwarf the impact of the pandemic economic fall-out, one wonders what the next decade will bring.
As the two strands converge going into this festive season, it is hard work to find reasons to be cheerful looking into the new year, or even the new decade.
But, as is so often the case, there’s still plenty of scope for renewal and resurgence if some good decisions are made at the right time. Here’s hoping.
