The Irish Farmers Journal carried an article on the mushroom industry late last month.
With input from Teagasc and Cafre the article looked at the facts and figures of the industry over the past decade - a decade of investment as the article put it.
With tonnages rising and grower numbers dwindling the professionalism and potential for the industry was highlighted.
The future was seen in a move beyond “mainstream retail and catering further into the superfood categorisation, with potential to further add value through high-protein varieties and as an ingredient in plant-based products.”
