Fugaku the Japanese supercomputer has made some more covid 19 PPE related pronouncements. The supercomputer has found that plastic face shields are almost completely ineffective at trapping breath aerosols. Visors fail to prevent 100 percent of airborne droplets of less than 5 micrometers in size.
And even larger droplets measuring 50 micrometers found their way around the shield half of the time. Wearing a mask seems to be a much more effective way to go.
No doubt there’ll be more from Fugaku in the future, with it's jaunty 415 quadrillion computations per second.
