The finding mentioning last month of microplastic particulate matter in vegetables may have alarmed some folk.
Stalker was even more alarmed that plastic has been found in bottled beers. The purity of the standard tipple is now in doubt!
Scientists reckon that the plastic in the beers comes from the water that is used to make the drinks. They tested 27 different brands and found most contain some form of microplastic.
The study was done in Mexico, so maybe one can just avoid cervesa from that country. But it seems like the prevalence of plastics in our environment is ever-increasing. To quote one of the research team;”
It is presumed that human health effects from microplastics are unlikely, but the long-term exposure to ingestion of contaminated particles is largely unknown.”
The study was reported in the journal Science of the Total Environment.
