One avid magazine reader has some salient postings on mushroom facts on their facebook page.
Stalker was intrigued to read about the comparative water usage for production of a kilo of avocado versus the production of kilo of mushrooms.
It takes 1000 litres of water for the avocado versus 18 litres for the mushrooms. In these days of environmental responsibility it seems like the mushroom is the produce of choice in this trade off.
And as the poster puts it - “And the best part? They’re in season in the UK & Ireland all year round.”
