Losses at Bórd na Móna more than halved last year to €22.5 million according to the State company’s annual report.
Bórd na Móna is moving out of its original business of peat-production into energy, waste recycling and other activities.
The company’s losses mainly stem from it's move out of peat-production and into other business areas. The company's waste-collection business recruited extra customers during the previous financial year.
And they opened Ireland’s only farm plastics recycling plant at a site in Littleton, Co. Tipperary, where they used to make the old peat briquettes.
