Many commentators in the media have expressed the idea that the world has been propelled 20 years or so forward by the emergence of the coronavirus pandemic.
Trends that would have taken 20 years to develop normally, have been consolidated in a matter of months. Think working weeks, plastic payments, tele-medicine and the like.
The world of automation and robotics is going to take off too, apparently.
Recently the company Bosch has partnered with Fieldwork Robotics in the UK to speed up development of it's raspberry-picking robots amid fears of future lockdowns which could worsen labour shortages on farms. Fieldwork is expecting its robots to be sold commercially next year.
No doubt we can expect more news of robotic picking in the mushroom sector as well. Those robots are coming.
