The weather in June has been more a mixed bag than the preceding months.
There hasn’t been much rain, but there has been precipitation in the air. Thunder and lightning storms in the south of the country have been notable - with one strike in Co Clare killing nine cows in one field.
As we head into the height of summer, there’s no long range forecasts being proposed - the weather patterns seem to remain more changeable than ever, and nothing can be forecast with any accuracy. The UK Met Office has predicted some extreme heat for the end of June though.
The farmers almanac website, a new one on Stalker, gives many June weather sayings. The most apt maybe this year is - June, damp and warm, does a farmer no harm.
