At least three meat processing factories have been closed recently in England and Wales following outbreaks of Covid-19 and there are five more suspected outbreaks in other processing factories across the UK.
The numbers involved in the outbreaks are not small either.
It would seem that this sector of the food industry is very susceptible to this disease spread - Germany has also been affected and there have been massive outbreaks in meat processing plants in the US.
Even though lockdown rules are easing, and there is talk of some easing of the two metre rule in the hospitality sector, it is imperative that people do not let their guard down and employ all necessary barriers to disease transmission.
