Renewed vigour in the Brexit trade deal negotiations was called for by the British PM this month, as the chance of reaching a deal in time to avoid new tariffs and barriers to trade receded.
Utterances from all sides were attempted to shore up the idea that a deal can be delivered in time. Phrases like “failure of statecraft” and “ideological bunker mentality” are bandied about.
Who knows how the next Brexit deadline crunch time will pan out. You can bet though there’ll be a lot of hot air between here and there.
