The UK government has ordered an urgent review into Vitamin D in the light of the coronavirus pandemic.
There are fears that people have not been getting enough sunlight during the lockdown phase, and worries that low levels of the vitamin exacerbate the Covid 19 disease outcomes.
The Scientific Advisory Committee on Nutrition (SACN) was ordered to do this work last month and consider recent evidence on vitamin D and acute respiratory tract infection in the general population.
UPDATE: 3 July 2020 www.theguardian.com The urgent review lead to no evidence that taking vitmain D helps prevent Covid 19.
