Unsurprisingly car sales in the UK and Ireland went through the floor in the lockdown period.
Normally a handy bellwether of economic sentiment, the new car sales figures pretty much highlight the dearth of activity this past two months.
In the UK the April figure marked a 97 percent plunge on the same month last year.
Happily car showrooms are opening in both territories in the first phase out of lockdown.
It’ll be interesting to see how many people are tempted to buy new motors whilst in Ireland at the moment you can still only drive 5 km from your home without good excuse.
