Stalker was interested to see Teagasc Advisor Dermot Callaghan pop up on RTÉ’s agriculture programme Ear To The Ground on February 13th.
Dermot was on to talk about the ins and outs of vertical farming - the idea seems to be catching on in Ireland.
The initial segment of the piece looked at proven vertical farming in the mushroom industry, then went on to look at new produce, like basil and micro greens, already being grown in lorry containers in Ireland.
The jury is still out on whether the vertical farms will take off, but there already seems to be demand for different modes and methods of agriculture in the country.
