LIVER REQ’D
One person in Ireland required an emergency liver transplant after eating a toxic mushroom last year. The case highlights the need for all foragers to be 100 per cent certain about what they are picking and ingesting.Since 2014 there have also been 13 cases recorded of moderate poisoning by mushrooms and 40 incidents of minor effects from consuming wild mushrooms. The fungi involved in the liver transplant case was reportedly the Amanita virosa, a.k.a the destroying angel - not one you ever want to ingest.
