There’s a new exhibition at Somerset House in London - The Art, Design and Future of Fungi - a 130 year cultural history featuring artists and designers including; Cy Twombly, Carsten Holler, Beatrix Potter, Tom Dixon and Takashi Murakami.
Curator Fransesca Gavin says, “I noticed so many artists working with fungi and I wanted to learn why.”
“I want people to leave the show inspired by fungi and with a little more knowledge of their importance to the planet’s survival and, by extension, human life.” Also one explore ground-breaking experiments in design, textiles and architecture that utilise mushrooms in exciting new ways – from upcycled agro-waste to sustainable shoes made with mycelium.
Sounds like an art show for mushroom people! The exhibition is free and runs from January 30th to April 26th at Somerset House.
