Tesco UK has warned 1500 suppliers that it will not stock products that are packaged in difficult to recycle plastic.
Last year Tesco produced 18 billion pieces of plastic according to Greenpeace.
The push against plastic is now mainstream, but plastic has it's place, and when it comes to the environment sometimes alternatives can be more ecologically destructive or take vastly more energy to produce.
Hopefully the balance will be struck for the good of the planet.
