Local Media in Co.Tyrone picked up on opposition to a new “mushroom factory” in Augher after planning permission was given the go-ahead at the Mid-Ulster Council.
One resident at least is up in arms at the new large-scale mushroom factory right on the edge of the village boundary.
“A monstrosity and a danger to the road users of the area”are the main objections, a fear of “smells and environmental damage to the nearby river” were also mooted.
Stalker reckons that the modern mushroom facility will be well run and not in anyway detrimental to the environment with all the stringent controls imposed these days.
However, the road safety issue is one that has sunk manys a proposal before, and the A4 is a busy arterial route for sure.
These types of issues arise wherever there is a new industrial development, and it is hoped in this day and age that any problems can be resolved to the satisfaction of all concerned.
