Looking for something a bit different this winter for a mini-break? Why not got truffle hunting in Italy?
White truffles are notoriously elusive, but at San Giovanni d’Asso and San Miniato In Tuscany, they’re relatively plentiful.
Three luxury hotels there - the Fonteverde, the Bagni di Pisa and the Grotta Giusti - are offering guests the chance to forage for the prized delicacy until December, when the fungi is flourishing.
The hunts are led by an authorised, English-speaking truffle-hunter and his trained dog. Doubles at the Grotta Giusti start at €148 B&B. At the Bagni di Pisa they cost from €155 B&B, and at the Fonteverde they start at €198 B&B.
You can fly to Pisa with Ryanair. Check out more information at italianhospitalitycollection.com
