Stalker noted reports that thousands of tonnes of fruit and vegetables are being left to rot in UK fields because of a shortage of pickers and packers in the face of ongoing uncertainty around Brexit.
Apparently overseas workers are staying away from the UK over fears of their status in a chaotic exit from the EU. Farmers have reported a 30 per cent shortage of workers apparently last month.
With some seasonal harvesting operations shutting down six weeks early, it seems that the Brexit effect is strong leading up to the supposed “do or die” moment.
