There have been reports of poor second flushes coming in recently. The usual suspects for growers always get trotted out first – it must be the compost, or it must be the casing.
The possibility that it might be the weather never seems to catch. However the recent speedy variation in weather conditions from generally mild and wet to a spiky cold snap may well have caught some growers off-guard.
The change in humidity was pretty sharp and this has a definite affect on flushes.
