Fyffes, the company we in Ireland associate with bananas, have according to their 2018 annual report spent €36.6 million last year buying Canadian mushroom companies.
The tropical fruits group has been expanding its business in North America since it first entered the mushroom sphere there in 2016.
It bought Highline Mushrooms for nearly €100 million in 2016, and followed that with a €40 million purchase of All Seasons Mushrooms.
