In the lead up to the secondary Brexit deadline date, briefings from the EU Commission increased with news of measures to help in the event of a no-deal scenario.
EU Agriculture Commissioner Phil Hogan was hoping that common sense would prevail, but briefed journalists on measures that would be implemented in the event of the UK crashing out of the EU.
He said the EU had considerable experience om intervening in agri-food crises and stood ready to help.
