Stalker noted that a mushroom based vegan meat had star turn on telly this month. It was served up to MasterChef presenter Gregg Wallace on the BBC series Supermarket Secrets.
The show followed the production of the dish from its beginnings on a mushroom farm right through to the shelves in the supermarket. The programme features Tesco’s “head of plant-based innovation”, who is trying to develop a vegan, mushroom-based meal that will appeal to meat-eaters.
Wallace declared himself totally taken by the taste. The meat substitute is made out of compressed oyster mushrooms.
It may well be worth a munch just to check it out.
