One correspondent this month mused on a prediction that was made many years ago concerning the mushroom industry in Ireland.
The prediction was that in the future there would only be 10 large mushroom farms in Ireland producing all the mushrooms for national and UK consumption.
With the number of operations in the industry dwindling - there used to be at least 700 growers in the south and several hundred in the north - the prediction may not be so far fetched.
