Vegetables of all hues have been shunned over the past year, and mushrooms have been shunted into 13th place in the UK’s most favourite list.
Sales data released by Asda found blueberries have seen a 53 per cent increase in sales over the past year, overtaking potatoes and broccoli as firm favourites to become the nation’s sixth and seventh-most purchased produce this year.
Despite a wider trend towards plant based foods as families cut back on meat, old favourite vegetables have tumbled out of the top ten, with broccoli (11th), tomatoes (12th) and mushrooms (13th).
Plenty of work there for the mushroom marketers over the next year then!
