ITN News carried a piece on mushrooms that had gone missing. The mushrooms were said to be “dementia-easing” mushrooms of the lions mane variety and they had been stolen.
It made the television news and the national papers. Three legally protected “bearded tooth fungus” specimens were sliced off a tree in the New Forest, which then prompted the mushroom hunt. It’s not too often you get such a hullabaloo in the media about mushrooms going missing.
The prime suspects are either a mushroom forager or a mushroom scientist! Certainly not a case for Detective Chief Inspector Jane Tennison, of Prime Suspect fame, thinks Stalker. Perhaps it might be a good case for Sherlock Gnomes?
