MPs in the Houses of Parliament in the UK have debated fresh measures to curb plastic use and waste - with one argument being that supermarkets must be forced to sell fruit and veg in plastic free packaging.
A petition with 123,000 signatures was gathered calling for food retailers to offer plastic free options, which made it eligible for debate in the House of Commons.
The debate motion urged Government to “make supermarkets offer an option of no packaging or eco-friendly packaging for each item of fresh fruit and vegetables they sell.” We’ll be back to brown bags in no time.
