The MIANI conference at the A.C.H as reported elsewhere was chock full of interesting facts, factoids and figures.
One aspect of the conference was worrying though, the low show by those that grow. Depressed times in the industry and perhaps a tad of SAD (seasonal affective disorder) could be mitigating reasons.
Compost makers too might well have felt aggrieved by some comments at the conference – although notably a few speakers did stand up for composters. As one observer put it, no compost maker sets out to make a bad compost!
And then the supermarket's side was put by the man from Sainsburys – they have to provide what the customer wants not what the grower wants.
All for the best in the best of all possible worlds!
