There was a big crowd in Monaghan town recently for Irish Tánaiste’s Brexpro gig - a.k.a. “Getting Ireland Brexit Ready” tour.
Artists, engineers, hotels, oysters, eggs mushrooms and ducks were all represented at the event. The proximity of the border was the drawing power for the 400 or so business people that showed up to plan for the future.
They came from all around, north and south of the “invisible” border.
With a report from the Irish Central Bank indicating that the UK PM’s Brexit plan could cost 20,00 jobs in Ireland, there certainly seems like no better time to be having preparedness ‘get-togethers’.
One attendee encapsulated the resilience and entrepreneurial characteristics of the border folk, saying : Whatever comes, we will deal with it and we will move on.”
