The Costa Group down under is investing in virtual reality to help with training mushroom pickers and even to help those interested in picking jobs see if that’s what they want to do.
Potential mushroom pickers can test whether they want the role - thus maybe saving on staff turnover.
The company has teamed up with Melbourne Polytechnic to take potential pickers into a virtual world to harvest trays of mushrooms at varying levels of maturity, before being let loose on the real thing.
It might just catch on elsewhere, perhaps even over here.
