Gene edited (GE) super crops are to be grown in the UK in a European first after scientists exploited a legal loophole.

The farming of GE Camelina oilseed crops has been approved by UK government in a pilot programme.

GE is not regulated in the same way as GM because there is no addition of foreign DNA.

Seems like that door has now been opened here in Europe, expect more GE before too long.
