Of all the threats to human existence that have been mooted over the years, there are apparently two more to add to the list.
The first one is less dramatic than most, but according to some scientists is much more plausibly a threat. So after thermonuclear war, climate change, antibiotic resistance, asteroid strikes, magnetic field disruption, pandemic, supervolcano eruption, species extinction - we can add loss of soil.
It is seen as a massively growing problem in the developed world, and could lead to global dust bowl conditions.
Someone has also predicted a death planet to kill us all off on April 23 this year - although Nasa knows nothing about it.
Hopefully dear reader you’re reading this comfortably after that date.
