The search for gold continues apace amongst the drumlins of Monaghan and in the hills of Tyrone. Australian company Walkabout Resources is to expand its Northern Ireland exploration footprint searching for gold and other precious metals in the Sperrins, near Slieve Gallion in Co. Derry.
Meanwhile Conroy Gold and Natural Resources has discovered an extensive gold zone in Co Monaghan near Tullybuck, not far from Clontibret.
Folk memory suggests that there used to be a mine near there that produced antimony, a brittle silvery-white semi-metal.
There’s so many potentials seams of value in Ireland, one wonders where will all this exploration end?
