Dublin airport endured its wettest hour in almost seventy years - that was a notable factoid for the weather in January.

It was one of the dampest Januarys on record. Again the month was milder than normal.

But we did get snow and hail and sleet  in many parts of the country too.

This winter is shaping up to be a vaguely proper one.
