Interesting to note that mushrooms are now being touted as the answer to the US’s crumbling infrastructure.
According to Newsweek “Mushrooms—or at least a type of fungus scientifically known as Trichoderma reesei. A new technique uses fungi to fill the cracks in concrete—creating a self-healing concrete. The self-healing concrete would be low-cost, pollution-free and sustainable, according to the researchers.” Just another myco-technology that is changing the way the world is looking at buildings and engineering.
With mycelial products already being used to replace plastics, we do seem to be on the cusp of a new material age.
