The television star and cooking sensation Mary Berry has a new book out entitled Mary’s Household Tips & Tricks.
In it she writes - “ when I was growing up, my mum always made something out of nothing: it was very important that nothing was wasted”.
One of her top tips in this section is on mushrooms.
“Save Mushroom trimmings - any peel or odd ends of stalk - and add those to stock when it’s reducing, strain off when it’s ready, before using: it gives the stock a lovely mushroomy flavour which is very good when added to casseroles or risottos.”
