The new Star Trek Discovery series continues to amaze with its mushroom sci-fi storylines.
Where once we had had warp drive, now there is spore drive and the mycelial network that extends throughout the universe. Chief proponent of the spore drive, Lieutenant Commander Paul Stamets has quite a large part to play in the show.
Even though the idea of the spore drive is extremely whacky, the interweaving of mycology into the science narrative of the show will hopefully do wonders for the future popularity of the subject!
