Scientists have found the oldest fossilized mushroom to date in Brazil.
It is 115 million years old and was formed at a time when the continents were much more connected.
Fungi evolved before land plants and are responsible for the transition of plants from an aquatic to a terrestrial environment,' said INHS mycologist Dr Andrew Miller, the co-author of the study.
It’s been a long road for that mushroom, getting from then to here.
