The UK’s damp squib of a summer was still warmer than average the Met Office has revealed. The summer was the 11th wettest on record, but temperatures bewett June 1 and august 30 were 0.4C above the long term average.
Met Eireann’s assessment for august was : Cool and dull. Near normal temperatures. August 2017 was unsettled and very changeable.
The Jet Stream was pronounced over mid latitudes, allowing a southwest to west airflow prevail over Ireland. Frontal systems brought rain or showers widely on most days.
