It’s mushroom month again, officially in the US, and evidently over here in Ireland amongst the forests and fields, the soggy peatlands and rolling drumlins.
Officially it was wetter than normal everywhere, especially in the western half of Ireland, with Newport, Co Mayo getting 65 days of rain. Maybe the wet summer will lead to a bumper mushroom florescence across the country, for all those who like to get out and forage or even photograph the natural bounty.
Already the forests are carpeted with multiple species of mushrooms, awaiting discovery.
