Stalker was reading about a new startup called Apeel Sciences which has invented a vegetable based coating that dramatically increases the shelf life of fresh fruit and veg.
The film is a vegetable alloy that keeps water from evaporating while regulating how much oxygen is let in.
It has won approval from the FDA in the US, and could help dramatically cut the 30-40 per cent of food that is wasted due to spoliation or bruising. Might it have an application in the mushroom world?
