End of May, and Tesco Ireland are promoting cheap veg, one of which is chestnut mushrooms, all at 49c.
It was interesting to hear from a mushroom supplier directly talking about the upside of the cheap veg deals in supermarkets. Leslie Codd, speaking to the Guild of Agricultural Journalists in the Naas distribution centre of Aldi, said that the super six cheap veg deals offered by the supermarket were good for his business. The value promotions are to be welcomed according to the Tullow based producer. 'We're not affected financially when we're out on super six. More throughput in our facility lowers our cost of production, " Leslie Codd said. "It's good for us and I imagine it's good for other Aldi suppliers too."
Stalker wonders if the same goes for all the major multiples?
