Cobweb, the bane of many growers down the years, has another weapon lined up against it.
There is a BASF product called Vivando that is now approved for use against Cobweb in Ireland. The primary symptom of cobweb is circular patches of a cobweb like mycelium growing over the casing soil and enveloping mushrooms in its path.
The product is also approved in Netherlands, Spain, and Belgium However it is not fully through the registration process in the UK. The primary substance in this new fungicide is Metrafenone.
Teagasc hope to be doing a workshop for growers in the near future to explain more about use of the substance and other practicalities - watch out for details.
