A farm-to-doorstep delivery app has raised £7million in its bid to challenge supermarket hegemony. Farmdrop, the online delivery start-up connects customers with farmers and manufacturers so they can order reasonable priced local goods , and also ensures that farmers receive 75 per cent of the retail price.
Perusing the website www.farmdrop.com Stalker noted that there were organic brown mushrooms for sale on site produced in Suffolk and also large flat mushrooms produced in Northern Ireland.
The app is currently operational in London, but hopes to be working in other parts of the UK. It sounds like the kind of thing that might just catch on big time!
