Watching a programme on the best hotels in the world, Stalker was intrigued by the Ice Hotel in northern Sweden.
There is now a permanent one in the region, in Swedish Lapland, in the village of Jukkasjarvi, accommodating intrepid travellers 365 days of the year.
The programme showed how the hotel caters for guests on ice, with every bowl, glass and plate being made of the stuff - as well as the walls , floors and furniture.
Guests also partook of lovely fresh shiitake mushrooms, grown down the nearby iron ore mine, where temperatures remain at a constant 18C. The shiitake logs looked very cool!
Just goes to show that you can get fresh produce in the most out of the way places. Mind you at £1K per night to stay in the icy surrounds, you’ll need well-lined, fur-lined, pockets to survive the place.
