The row over the importing of mushroom compost in New Zealand is rumbling on down-under.
The fight to stop any bio-hazardous materials entering the environment in New Zealand seems to be the main thrust. Stalker was intrigued by the word stoush what was used to describe the brouhaha.
It’s a word originating it seems in the antipodes which means as a verb to hit or to fight with. For example: "Get out of that car while I stoush you!"
And as a noun: a brawl or other fight; e.g a political fight.
It’s very onomatopoeic when you use it, Stalker reckons.
