Chatting with a man the other day, Stalker was apprised of the fact that “you can’t get an electrician for love nor money around these parts!” Said citizen was looking one to wire a house, and had approached five or six sparks, but had been rebuffed by all.
Then the next day Stalker spotted an advert in the local papers from Monaghan Mushrooms, looking for a maintenance electrician. Let’s hope they have more luck finding the right person. The job position can be found in the Monaghan website.
There’s a shortage of brickies in the Mid-Ulster area of the North too.
One supposes that after years of younger folk with skills leaving both the North and the South of Ireland in search of employment abroad after the financial crash, there’s a skills dearth developing. Maybe not.
