Plans are afoot for a post Brexit electronic customs system on the island of Ireland according to reports.
The idea is that one could drive from Cork to Belfast or Holyhead to Galway without having to stop. That’s the notion anyway.
Who knows what the negotiations on the leaving of the EU will throw up in the months and years ahead.
Already there is talk of hardball political appointments before the negotiating has even begun, leading some to speculate at this early stage that a hard Brexit will be on the cards.
There’s a long way to go yet, and maybe a soft disentanglement and re-engagement can yet be achieved.
