Looking back 30 years, at the August 1986 edition of The Mushroom People, it is interesting to note what has changed and what has not.
The issue celebrated the Kernan mushroom empire, 30 years in the business at that point. Reen compost figured largely too, as did Le Lion spawn, Tennelly products and Keady Peat Products. Campbell and Donnelly of Benburb were specialising in spray-on insulation.
JFM were going strong and still are.
Oliver McCann was writing about keeping his trousers on while visiting growers and their wives? And Mairead Duffin was penning the science article entitled Composting in the Netherlands.
Who knows what the next 30 years might bring. One thing is for sure, it is like the blinking of an eye.
