Mercer Mushrooms in New Zealand were forced to suspend operations after a Ministry inspection found traces of animal products in their imported substrate which were deemed to be a biosecurity risk.
Up to 70 jobs are imperilled by the move, although the company hopes to continue with expansion plans and re-utilise workers in other roles.
